MEET THE PRESIDENT

RICHARD GRIST, PRESIDENT OF MOUNTAIN STATE LAND & TIMBER, INC.

Richard bridges the gap between the forest industry and the real estate industry. Working full time as both a Registered Professional Forester and a Licensed Real Estate Broker, Richard lives the relationship between timber and land.

The land and timber business has undergone tremendous changes since Richard started in 1979. Many properties once considered best suited for timber production now have greater appeal for retirement or vacation destinations.

Richard serves on the board of directors of the Greenbrier Valley Farm Bureau and is also a director on the board of the Greenbrier Valley Board of Realtors.

A 1979 graduate of West Virginia University, Richard holds a BS degree in Forest Resource Management. He is also a graduate of the Real Estate Institute, becoming a licensed real estate agent in 1992 and received his Real Estate Brokers license in 2002.

Richard, and his wife Mary, have been married over 25 years and live on Meadow Mountain just beyond the beautiful Greenbrier Valley with Spot Dog and Too Dogs.

Richard and Mary have two children. Paul graduated from Virginia Tech and now works for MSLT's sister company, Foxfire Mountain Properties, as a Realtor and Auctioneer. Caroline graduated from Virginia Tech, completed her Master degree in Education and is teaching in Salt Lake City Utah.
